FlashFlashRevolution 2019

In July 2019 the rhythm based gaming platform FlashFlashRevolution experienced a significant security incident resulting in the exposure of user account information. The breach impacted approximately 1.9 million accounts and contained data from a previous 2016 incident as well as new user records. The compromised database included sensitive technical and personal identifiers. The incident occurred due to vulnerabilities that allowed unauthorized access to the forum and game database servers. Exposed credentials were encrypted using MD5 with salt which is considered a weak hashing algorithm by modern security standards.
