Fling

In 2011 the adult-oriented social networking site Fling suffered a massive security breach resulting in the exposure of approximately 40 million user accounts. The incident occurred due to a cyberattack that compromised the database containing sensitive member information. The leaked data included email addresses and usernames alongside plaintext passwords which were not encrypted or hashed. This lack of basic security measures made the user credentials immediately accessible to unauthorized parties. The scale of the leak posed significant privacy risks given the nature of the platform and the exposure of personal contact details and authentication data.
