Washington State Food Worker Course

In November 2018 a massive data breach involving the Washington State Food Worker Course was identified. The incident occurred due to an improperly secured database backup managed by the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department. This misconfiguration left an unprotected server accessible to the public internet without any authentication requirements. As a result approximately 2.1 million records of individuals who participated in the food safety training program were exposed. The compromised data included sensitive personal details such as full names and residential information which could be leveraged for identity theft or phishing campaigns.
