A significant data breach occurred at the Russian social discovery and dating service Fotostrana in October 2021. The incident resulted in the exposure of approximately 800 thousand user records which were made available on various underground forums. The leaked database contained sensitive identity information including user email addresses, usernames, password hashes, and IP addresses. This security failure allowed unauthorized access to private data of a large portion of the platforms user base, potentially facilitating credential stuffing and phishing attacks against the affected individuals.
