In early 2021 the Hungarian book publishing website Gabo.hu suffered a data breach that resulted in the exposure of its customer database. The incident involved an unauthorized access to the web server where user information was stored. The leaked data included personal details of registered customers who purchased books or subscribed to newsletters. This exposure potentially allowed malicious actors to conduct phishing campaigns targeting Hungarian readers by using their real names and contact information found in the database.
