In May 2020 the video game exchange and discussion platform GamersHood suffered a data breach that exposed the personal information of approximately 83 thousand users. The incident involved the unauthorized access and extraction of a database containing sensitive user details. The leaked information included account identifiers such as usernames and nicknames along with contact details like email addresses. Additionally the data set contained network information including IP addresses and legacy communication profiles for Skype and ICQ. Security was further compromised as the leak included dates of birth and MD5 hashed passwords with salt which are vulnerable to cracking attempts.
