GameSprit

In December 2019 the online gaming platform Gamesprite suffered a significant data breach. The incident occurred after attackers gained unauthorized access through a vulnerability in the Discuz forum administrator panel which was used by the site. This security flaw allowed hackers to compromise several gaming websites simultaneously. The breach resulted in the exposure of sensitive account details for over seven million users. The leaked data included email addresses used for registration account usernames and cryptographic hashes of passwords specifically using the MD5 algorithm with salt. This exposure puts users at risk of credential stuffing attacks and potential account takeovers across other services if passwords were reused.
