In May 2016 the Vietnamese gaming forum GameVN suffered a significant data breach. The incident resulted in the exposure of sensitive user credentials from their database. The breach was primarily attributed to vulnerabilities in the forum software which allowed unauthorized access to user tables. The exposed data includes usernames and email addresses along with passwords stored as MD5 hashes which are considered cryptographically weak and susceptible to cracking. This security failure impacted over one million members of the community.
