About this leak
In March 2012 the German online gaming company Gamigo suffered a massive security breach resulting in the exposure of millions of user accounts. The incident involved an unauthorized intrusion into their database where attackers managed to export sensitive user credentials. The leaked data contained millions of unique email addresses and passwords which were stored using the weak MD5 hashing algorithm without any salt making them highly vulnerable to decryption through brute force or rainbow table attacks. This breach remains one of the largest in the gaming industry from that era.
