About this leak
In May 2017 the gaming community website GamingUnity suffered a significant data breach. An unauthorized party gained access to the platform backend database exposing sensitive information of approximately 11400 registered members. The incident involved the extraction of user account details including email addresses and usernames. Crucially password hashes were also compromised which were stored using the MD5 algorithm with a salt. Following this security failure the original service underwent rebranding and eventually shifted its focus or ceased its original operations as a gaming portal.
