A security incident occurred on the Gearmix scientific and educational portal on February 11 2024. The breach resulted in the exposure of user account information including usernames and email addresses. Additionally the leak contained website links and hashed passwords. The scale of the incident is relatively small affecting 240 registered users however the exposure of credentials poses a risk of credential stuffing attacks if the same passwords were reused elsewhere. The data was discovered after being posted on a niche forum for data leaks.
