A data leak involving user records from Getcontact and Numbuster was identified in 2022. These services function as caller identification tools that aggregate contact information and user labels from personal phone books. The incident involved the unauthorized collection and publication of a database containing approximately 141000 unique phone numbers associated with 867000 descriptive names and labels as saved by other users. This type of data exposure is often the result of scraping or API exploitation rather than a direct server breach, leading to the public availability of private contact associations and potentially exposing social connections.
