In May 2017 the Grand Exchange Tracker utility experienced a security breach that compromised the personal details of approximately 42 thousand users. The incident involved the unauthorized access and disclosure of sensitive information from the platform database. The exposed data included usernames and contact information along with salted bcrypt hashes of user passwords. This breach specifically targeted a community of players using the tool for market analysis within the gaming ecosystem. Security researchers identified the exposure which prompted the service to notify affected individuals and implement security measures to prevent future unauthorized access attempts.
