In October 2016 the Chinese Android community website Gfan suffered a massive data breach involving 22.5 million user accounts. The incident originated from a compromised database containing sensitive information of active community members. The leaked data includes email addresses, IP addresses, and usernames. Additionally, passwords stored as salted hashes were exposed, posing a significant security risk for users who reused credentials across multiple platforms. The breach was publicly identified when the data appeared on underground forums and breach monitoring services.
