Moscow GIBDD 2019

In October 2021 a massive database belonging to the Moscow traffic police GIBDD was discovered for sale on dark web forums. The breach contains approximately 50 million records spanning from 2006 to 2019. The exposed data includes highly sensitive information about both vehicles and their owners. Vehicle details include license plates VIN numbers car brands and technical specifications. Personal information concerning the owners includes full names residential addresses passport details and dates of birth. The incident likely occurred due to unauthorized access to internal government systems or an insider threat leading to one of the largest regional automotive data exposures in Russia.
