In January 2023 the online jewelry store Shop GoldHeart suffered a significant data security incident. The breach resulted in the exposure of sensitive personal information belonging to approximately 45000 registered customers. The compromise included full names and contact details along with geographic locations. Most critically the data set contained plain text passwords which poses a severe security risk to users who reuse credentials across multiple platforms. The leak originated from the ecommerce platform database and was subsequently shared within cybercriminal communities.
