About this leak
In July 2007 the GPotato multiplayer gaming portal experienced a significant security breach resulting in the exposure of over 2 million user accounts. The incident involved the unauthorized access to a database containing sensitive member information. The compromised data included usernames, email addresses, and IP addresses. Additionally, the leak contained MD5 hashed passwords and personal details such as gender, dates of birth, and physical addresses. Notably, security questions and their corresponding answers were stored in plain text, significantly increasing the risk of account takeover. The service was later integrated into the Webzen platform, but the original legacy account data remained impacted.
