In November 2019 the British forum GrailsForum.co.uk suffered a security breach that resulted in the exposure of its user database. The incident involved the unauthorized extraction of data by malicious actors who targeted the forum software. The leaked information included user identifiers and technical metadata along with cryptographic hashes of passwords. The breach exposed approximately 88 thousand records including usernames and IP addresses. The passwords were stored as MD5 hashes with salt which are considered weak by modern security standards and susceptible to cracking attempts.
