In May 2022 the Russian restaurant service Grand Bro fell victim to a data breach that exposed sensitive information of its clientele. The incident involved the unauthorized access and publication of a database containing approximately 10000 records. The exposed data included personal details such as mobile phone numbers and names along with account credentials. Security researchers noted that passwords were stored as MD5 hashes with salt which are considered weak by modern cryptographic standards. The leak appeared on various dark web forums and data sharing platforms often used to distribute compromised Russian databases during that period.
