About this leak
The Minecraft gaming community website HCS.Land experienced a significant security breach at the start of 2017. An unauthorized actor successfully compromised the database and extracted a user dump consisting of approximately 370000 records. This incident exposed sensitive user credentials including email addresses and names alongside technical data such as IP addresses. Notably the passwords were stored as salted MD5 hashes which are considered cryptographically weak by modern standards and susceptible to cracking. The stolen database was subsequently leaked and circulated across various hacking forums and data aggregation platforms.
