HeatGames

In June 2021 the online gaming platform HeatGames suffered a significant data breach resulting in the exposure of approximately 1.1 million user accounts. The incident was attributed to a cyber attack by an actor known as donjuji who successfully compromised the website database. The leaked information contained sensitive user details including email addresses and IP addresses as well as geographic locations. Furthermore user passwords were found to be stored using the weak MD5 hashing algorithm making them vulnerable to decryption and credential stuffing attacks.
