In July 2023 the Russian medical laboratory Helix suffered a significant cyberattack leading to the unauthorized disclosure of customer data. Threat actors successfully breached the internal systems and published a database containing approximately 7.3 million records. The compromised information includes personal identifiers such as full names, mobile phone numbers, and dates of birth. Additionally, highly sensitive regulatory data including SNILS (Individual Insurance Account Number) and medical insurance policy numbers were exposed. The attackers claimed to possess even more sensitive medical test results and threatened further publication if their demands were not met.
