HiAPK

In mid 2014 the Chinese Android marketplace known as HiAPK suffered a significant data security incident. This breach resulted in the exposure of approximately 13.8 million user accounts. The compromised data included email addresses, usernames, and passwords stored as salted MD5 hashes. The incident highlight vulnerabilities in mobile application distribution platforms during that period especially regarding the storage of credential data for a large subscriber base in China.
