In late 2022 the Spanish language torrent and cinema community website Hispashare club suffered a data breach that resulted in the public exposure of sensitive user information. An unauthorized party obtained and published a database containing records for approximately 170000 registered members. The compromised data included user email addresses, unique nicknames, IP addresses utilized during site access, and cryptographic password hashes. This incident posed a significant security risk for users who reuse passwords across multiple platforms particularly within the media sharing community.
