A massive data breach allegedly originating from the HiTeckGroop platform surfaced in early 2025 containing details of Indian citizens and mobile subscribers. The dataset encompasses approximately 1.8 billion records representing about 300 million unique individuals. The leak includes highly sensitive personal identifiers such as full names, fathers names, and national identity document numbers, primarily Aadhaar numbers but also including passports and tax IDs. The records link multiple phone numbers to single identities, with some users having dozens of associated mobile lines. Additionally, some entries contain usernames and email addresses, posing a significant risk for identity theft and targeted phishing across the Indian subcontinent.
