In July 2022 the Chinese adult content platform Hjedd suffered a significant data exposure. The incident was caused by a database misconfiguration that allowed unauthorized public access without authentication. This security lapse resulted in the leak of sensitive user information including account credentials and contact details. The leaked passwords were stored as bcrypt hashes providing some level of protection but the overall exposure posed a high risk to the privacy of the platforms users especially given the sensitive nature of the service content.
