HLTV

In June 2016 the HLTV.org website specialized in Counter-Strike coverage suffered a major data breach. The incident led to the exposure of approximately 611000 user accounts. The breach occurred due to a vulnerability that allowed unauthorized access to the database. Leaked information included sensitive user credentials such as email addresses and passwords. The passwords were encrypted using a custom MD5 hashing algorithm combined with a static salt known as GorainbowispingDweeb. Despite the hashing the security of these passwords was considered weak by modern standards.
