In October 2016 the sports forum InternationalHockey.net suffered a data breach that exposed its user database. The incident involved the unauthorized extraction of sensitive information from the vBulletin forum software. The leaked data included usernames, email addresses, and salted hashes of user passwords. This breach put numerous hockey enthusiasts at risk of credential stuffing attacks and other forms of cyber exploitation. The data was later shared within the hacking community and added to major breach notification services like Have I Been Pwned to alert affected individuals about their compromised accounts.
