HolodForum.ru

In 2020 the Russian online community for refrigeration technicians known as HolodForum suffered a data breach. The incident resulted in the exposure of personal information belonging to over 70000 registered members. The data set appeared on various underground forums and included sensitive details such as usernames email addresses and IP addresses. Security analysis revealed that passwords were stored as salted MD5 hashes which are considered weak by modern standards and susceptible to cracking via brute force or rainbow table attacks. The compromise likely occurred due to vulnerabilities in the forum software platform.
