HoundDawgs

In December 2017 the Danish torrent tracker HoundDawgs experienced a significant data breach. The incident resulted in the exposure of over 55 GB of internal data including user credentials and site activity logs. The breach compromised unique email addresses and security credentials stored as SHA256 hashes with some legacy SHA1 hashes also present. The leaked information included detailed torrent activity journals and associated network identifiers which could potentially link specific downloads to individual users. This event highlights the risks associated with private sharing communities where sensitive user metadata is often logged extensively.
