In July 2018 the home remodeling and design platform Houzz suffered a major security breach. An unauthorized third party gained access to a file containing publicly available information as well as internal account data. The incident was discovered by the company in late December 2018 and users were notified in February 2019. The leak exposed nearly 49 million unique user records including sensitive profile details and encrypted passwords.
