IndiaMART

In August 2021 a massive database containing approximately 38 million records from the Indian ecommerce marketplace IndiaMART was exposed on a popular hacking forum. The incident involved the exposure of over 20 million unique email addresses along with significant personal identifiable information. While the exact method of acquisition remains unconfirmed it is suspected that the data was either scraped via an unsecured API or obtained through a system vulnerability. The breach significantly impacted users across India by exposing contact details and business information to potential phishing and social engineering attacks.
