In July 2014 the travel booking website Insanelyi experienced a significant data breach. An unauthorized third party successfully compromised the platform database resulting in the exposure of personal information belonging to approximately 103000 registered users. The leaked data included usernames email addresses and passwords stored as MD5 hashes with salts. This security incident highlighted vulnerabilities in the web application security layer of the service at that time.
