InterPals

In late 2015 the language exchange and social networking site InterPals suffered a significant data breach. Approximately 3.4 million user accounts were compromised during the incident. The breach exposed sensitive personal information including email addresses and geographical locations. Additionally the data included salted password hashes and dates of birth. The breach was primarily attributed to vulnerabilities in the platform infrastructure that allowed unauthorized access to the backend database containing member records.
