IPMart

In 2015 the popular electronics and mobile technology forum IPMart formerly a major marketplace for mobile software and hardware experienced a significant data breach. An unauthorized party gained access to the forum database resulting in the exposure of millions of user accounts. The breach included sensitive information such as usernames email addresses and IP addresses. Most notably passwords were leaked in the form of salted MD5 hashes which are considered weak by modern security standards. The incident highlighted vulnerabilities in legacy forum software and the risks associated with storing large amounts of user data on community platforms.
