A data breach involving the Russian news and information platform Irklib.ru occurred on February 2 2024. The incident resulted in the unauthorized access and extraction of a database containing personal details of approximately 5000 registered users. The compromised information includes full names, professional titles, email addresses, and mobile phone numbers. Most critically, user passwords were discovered to be stored in an unencrypted open text format, significantly increasing the risk of account takeover across other platforms where users might reuse the same credentials.
