Jassume

In May 2020 the French dating platform J Assume suffered a major data breach that exposed the sensitive information of its user base. The security incident resulted in the unauthorized disclosure of personal details including user names email addresses and dates of birth. Most significantly the database contained passwords stored in plain text format making the accounts highly vulnerable to immediate compromise. The leak affected approximately 792000 registered users across France. The incident highlights critical failures in data protection practices specifically the lack of password hashing which allowed attackers to gain full access to user credentials without needing to crack encryption.
