In January 2021 the Russian online clothing retailer Jetty.su suffered a significant data breach. The incident resulted in the unauthorized exposure of a database containing sensitive information of over 25 thousand registered customers. The leaked data was found in open access and included personal identifiers such as full names and contact details alongside technical metadata. Security analysis revealed that user passwords were stored using the outdated MD5 hashing algorithm which is highly susceptible to cracking and brute force attacks. The breach highlights vulnerabilities in legacy cryptographic practices within the ecommerce sector.
