In 2020 a significant security incident occurred involving Jivo formerly known as JivoSite when an unsecured server was discovered online. This misconfiguration allowed public access to a database containing information about approximately 230000 users. The exposed data included personal contact details and technical information regarding websites that had the Jivo chat module installed. The incident was primarily caused by an open database instance that lacked proper authentication protocols ensuring that anyone with the server address could view the internal records of the business communication service.
