In October 2017 a massive data breach affecting millions of Malaysian citizens was identified after sensitive databases were listed for sale on a forum. Among the compromised datasets was JobStreet which suffered a breach originating from March 2012. The incident exposed the personal information of approximately 4 million users. The breach occurred due to unauthorized access to the recruitment platform databases allowing hackers to harvest detailed candidate profiles. The data includes personal identifiers and authentication credentials which pose a significant risk of identity theft and credential stuffing attacks.
