JoyGames 2019

In December 2019 the gaming forum JoyGames suffered a significant data breach affecting approximately 4.6 million accounts. The incident resulted in the exposure of sensitive user credentials and technical identifiers. Analysis of the data revealed that the platform lacked basic security measures like captcha which led to a high volume of automated bot accounts being included in the compromised dataset. The breach involved the extraction of records from the forum database including salted MD5 password hashes which are considered cryptographically weak and susceptible to cracking.
