About this leak
The JoyGames online gaming platform experienced a significant data breach in 2020 which resulted in the exposure of approximately 980 thousand user records. The incident involved the publication of sensitive information including user nicknames and email addresses. Security analysis revealed that the leaked passwords were encrypted using MD5 hashing with salt which is considered a weak cryptographic practice by modern standards. The leaked data also contained IP addresses used by the players during their sessions on the browser based multiplayer game portal.
