In September 2022 a data breach occurred at Kabardino Balkarian State University known as KBSU. The incident resulted in the unauthorized disclosure of a database containing information for approximately 30000 registered users. The leaked data includes personal identifiers and technical details such as full names and email addresses. Additionally the dump contained usernames and IP addresses of the affected individuals. Security analysis confirmed that passwords were stored as Bcrypt hashes within the leaked files. This breach highlights vulnerabilities in educational infrastructure and exposes users to potential phishing and credential stuffing attacks.
