In July 2020 the automotive enthusiast forum KillBillet suffered a significant data breach. The incident involved an unauthorized intrusion into the forum database resulting in the exposure of sensitive user information. The compromised data included nicknames, email addresses, IP addresses, and profile details. Most critically, passwords stored as salted MD5 hashes were also leaked, posing a high risk for users who reuse credentials across multiple platforms. The breach affected approximately 120,000 registered accounts and was later circulated within the data breach community.
