Kixify

Kixify a major global marketplace for sneakers and footwear experienced a significant data breach in 2022. The security incident resulted in the unauthorized access and extraction of approximately 3 million user records. The compromised data included email addresses usernames and passwords stored as MD5 hashes without salt making them highly vulnerable to cracking. A subsequent breach occurred in September 2023 adding 800 thousand more records to the total exposure. The hack highlights vulnerabilities in legacy hashing methods and the persistent targeting of specialized ecommerce platforms by cybercriminals.
