Klerk.ru

In March 2014 the Russian professional portal for accountants and legal experts Klerk.ru suffered a significant data breach. An unauthorized party managed to gain access to the services database resulting in the exposure of approximately 750000 user records. The compromised information included personal details such as electronic mail addresses and nicknames along with technical data like IP addresses. Security analysis revealed that passwords were stored using the MD5 hashing algorithm with salt which is now considered cryptographically weak and susceptible to cracking attempts.
