Mykukun.com also known as Kukun is a leading home renovation and real estate technology platform. In early 2020 a massive data breach occurred when a misconfigured server left a large database exposed to the public internet without password protection. The exposed data contained millions of records including personal details of homeowners and professionals. Security researchers discovered the leak which originated from an unsecured ElasticSearch cluster. This incident exposed sensitive information related to home improvement projects and user profiles across the United States.
