In October 2020 during civil unrest in Kyrgyzstan physical theft of government computers occurred from the Jogorku Kenesh apparatus. A threat actor group identified as The Black Pirate utilized access from these stolen devices to exfiltrate a database containing personal details of Kyrgyz citizens. The breach affected approximately 880000 individuals and included sensitive identification numbers and residential locations. This incident highlights the severe risks of physical security breaches leading to large scale digital data exposure of a national population.
