In August 2016 the LEET service which specialized in providing Minecraft Pocket Edition server hosting experienced a major security breach. An unauthorized party gained access to the database affecting approximately 6 million users. The compromised data included sensitive information such as usernames email addresses IP addresses and passwords hashed with the SHA512 algorithm. This incident highlighted vulnerabilities in specialized gaming hosting platforms during that period.
