Libero

In July 2016 the Italian email service provider Libero suffered a significant data breach. The incident led to the exposure of sensitive information belonging to approximately 701000 users. The compromised data included full names of customers alongside their gender and physical mailing addresses. Most critically the leak contained email addresses and passwords stored in an unaltered format which poses a high risk of unauthorized account access and identity theft. The breach was discovered and reported by security researchers who identified the database circulating in the dark web community.
